As you may have picked up by now, my motto is WANDER – EXPLORE – DISCOVER. I decided to do this last week. I went for a Wander in The Barossa Valley not far from Adelaide. The reason I had gone there was to Explore the Lyndoch Lavender Farms. What I Discovered there, though small, was still cool.
I really didn’t know what to expect before arriving at the Lyndoch Lavender Farm. Lavender is a quite small flower. I was kind of expecting to see a sea of purple spread out before me. But what I found was the green of the leaves standing out more, and that to get any good photos I had to either get up really close to the lavender, or really really really close. So I did just that! Both that is!
Now I decided to do what I really like to do and that is be creative. I had taken a photo of a hillside when I first arrived and I liked the look of it on its own. So I thought why not have both in my shot.

Now I love blurring the background of my photos on 2 conditions. One being that the background is still discernible. And two being that it compliments the subject I am taking the photo of. I like the photo above as it gives you 2 things to look at. The lavender in the foreground, and the trees and hillside in the background. The original hillside photo I’ll include at the end.
I continued to Wander around the Lavender Farm and Discovered some more sparsely spread out flowers. So this is where I decided to get in really really really close. Once again I love how the blurred background compliments the subject of this photo. All of these photos were taken with a new/used lens I had recently bought. I have to say I am happy with the results I am getting from this lens. But there are only so many photos you take of lavender. So I went Exploring The Barossa Valley a little more.

I don’t know why, but I love the architecture of old churches. I was at this church in Rowland Flat. I had taken photos of a few other churches on this day, but wasn’t happy with what I was capturing. I Just couldn’t get into the groove I guess. But as I walked back to my car something else caught my eye.

I Discovered this old wreck completely by accident. One of the benefits of Wandering and Exploring I guess. I don’t know what it was but this just screamed to be photographed. Now with the vineyard in the background I decided this time to not blur the background like I had earlier in the day. I wanted to see what was clearly in the foreground and background. I think they work well together.
So there you go. I went Wandering in the Barossa Valley. My Main Reason was to Explore The Lyndoch Lavender Farm. What I Discovered was this rusted out old beast of a pick up truck.
Below are a few more photos of my day out, including the hillside photo I mentioned earlier on. But I really wanted to bring attention to the lavender and old pick up truck. I have started work on my 2025 Calendar that I put together each year. The old truck is sure to make an appearance in that, along with the lavender and hillside shot.
Till then….. Remember!
